I've recently migrated 2 mandriva from FC4 .KDE has started crashing showing errors SIGSEGV 11(signal 11)..Especially the multimedia programmes amarok,kaffine,totem,xine,plz help me come about this .....or how else can i play my multimedia files?

Would removal of KDE be an option ???

I would simply reinstall, certainly something has gone wrong, but that is a purely non-technical approach.

I don't understand how a migration between two different distro's could be possible,

I would backup all my personal stuff to a new folder on a partition that won't get formatted and reinstall.

Hope that advice helps. you could try the update mode from the install cd, but I don't think it will be enough.

I say that because there are so many files that are left in the /usr, /var, user and /root directories that old config files from FC4 could corrupt a new and shining install.
