What gives? Do I need to find openssl-devel? Where can I find it for Mandriva?

There's a mandriva package for kasablanca available in the contrib repository. If you don't already have a contrib source set up for the package manager, go to Easy Urpmi and follow the instructions there on how to set your sources. You should set up sources for main, contrib, and plf.
Once you have the repositories configured, you can search for kasablanca in the package manager or you can install it via command line by typing: urpmi kasablanca
