Yeah, I got it. Since I am running SuSE and I noticed during the install it never looked at /opt/kde3 I just added the --prefix=/opt/kde3 and all went well.

The best way to compile KDE apps is the following
Code:
$./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
$make
#make install
If you use that method on any distro, the KDE app will be installed in the right prefix.

I had problems with kbfx-0.3.8rc2. Athough it compiled just fine and the pic worked, It did not pop up the kmenu. The other 2 menus worked fine. So I compiled 3.7.2 and it worked fine. It has not the features 3.8 has, but it is simple and it works. For me, the simplier the better.

Thank you guys for the help.

that was from the link you gave me reddazz
what is the latest stable version for kde
and actually i did NOT understand a single step listed there

and i thought that it is better for me to wait for the next mandriva distribution which will probably have 3.5 or more

i know i will be one step late but i don't want to mess up my disto.

If you didn't understand the steps listed there, then its too risky for you to try the upgrade. The warining is there so that people know that there could be potential problems with doing such a big upgrade.

i have been googling since your reply nearly 2 hours now
first i got a dependency problem with installing superkaramba
Code:
Superkaramba can't be compiled
because of missing Python libraries/headers.
i looked for python-devel in rpmdrake and i didn't find it {i installed anything got python and no luck}

i found this link
http://www.python.org/2.2.3/rpms.html

and still the same superkaramba error and i am out of ideas

i hope i am not giving you a headache

If you are using Mandriva, then setup more rpm sources (main, updates, contrib and plf repositories) using the instructions available here. Once thats done, do "urpmi superkaramba" as root and your package should install automatically. YOu can also install it using rpmdrake.

Follow instructions as they are written down. The command I posted above is,
Code:
#urpmi superkaramba
Do not install rpms with a *.src.rpm extension because they are source rpms and not binary rpms.
