Gnome Desktop no icons

I re-installed Gnome (2.10) and the desktop has no icons on it. Also, I cannot use "Places" to open my home folder. It tries, but never actually opens.

BUT

If I 'run application' and open konqueror (or run it from the internet-->broswers option), I can navigate to both my Document, Home, and Desktop!

Ever hear of this?

I guess you can ignore this. I updated my "EEL" and it seems to be working now.
