Firefox weird problem?

I have a little problem with Firefox in my system. Everytime I want to launch Firefox the little "Choose User Profile"window pops out asking me to select a profile. I select the default one but another window comes out to tell me this;
Quote:
Firefox cannot use the profile"default" because it is in use.Please choose another profile or create a new one.
I was choosing to create a new profile but linux doesn't allow Firefox to copy the new profile in the directory that it belongs, which is (.mozilla) because is a hidden directory. Does anyone has any idea how to correct this problems.

Jose

Go to ~/.mozilla/firefox/<randomfigures>.default and look for an icon with a padlock on it. Delete that locked file and then restart Firefox.

ok. You must terminate the Firefox process(or well thats what you do in windows-find something similiar to your windows task manager in Mandriva). My motherboard is fried so i cannot tell you how to terminate it. I just know thats what you probably need to do. If you can't terminate the process, just restart your computer.

I looked under ( /.mozilla/firefox/xxxxx.default ) and there is around 6 different icons with the padlock on it. Which one is the one that I have to erase from those and also How could you kill any application that is running in linux, what I mean is what is the equivalent to "task manager" in Windows.
