I want to try rolling my own kernel for 2.6.3, partly for the hell of it, and partly for other reasons.
Now last time i did a kernel compile was back when you had to compile in scsi emulation to get IDE burners to work (v7 something, or maybe 8?). I remember there being a HUGE amount of questions and answers in the config file before compiling.
If there some place i can go (or indeed is it included with the source) to know what options are compiled in to the stock Mandrake kernel so i know i can at least get in all the things i need?
Knowing what to remove is not a problem (obviously i know what hardware i don't have), but knowing what stuff is needed for some of the more under the bonnet stuff to work is a little more tricky!
And i guess if theres a HOWTO or FAQ somewhere that would be handy too
Cheers,
Martin.
