2008 and DMA not allowed?

I've just fired up k3b and it's warning me that DMA's not enabled for my disc drives.

I checked with hdparm -d on all my drives and for disc and harddisk drives I get
Quote:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)
Is this right? Has something in Linux/Mandriva changed?

Nothing has changed to my knowledge. Running returns dma on for all my drives. Have you checked your bios to see if anything has changed in there?
