Recently ive got to thinking about some sort of hardware exchange that could be located here. Like a place where people could post requests for computer hardware and if someone happens to have that part they don't need and willing to part with could fill the request.
I for one have alot of old stuff laying around, and every so often newer stuff that I have upgraded and have no use for anymore.
Not really Smeezekitty. This has come up a few times and we haven't ever come up with a way to do it without damaging the non-profit status of LQ or making it safe. By which I mean, say person A offers up a processor. Person B wants it and offers to cover the postage. The money is sent but the goods never arrive - this could cause huge problem within LQ.
I have moved this to Suggestions and Feedback so that Jeremy is more likely to see it.
Thanks XavierP. Postage is really not a big deal for me since most items are rather light and only cost a few dollars to send in the US that is. For international I probably wouldn't consider shipping stuff out, since you have to deal with customs and other stuff.
I've actually thought about this myself on occasion. Another forum to which I'm a member (3Reef.com, for marine aquarists) has a forum for buying/selling/trading equipment and livestock; I've not seen any complaints there about anyone being scammed. I doubt the odds here are any worse than on eBay.
