Am I allowed to ask/solicit for help not related to Linux

Hi all!

I want to ask for help regarding a subject but I am concerned that it might fall under solicitation and therefore contravene the TOS.

Background: Since the Asian tsunami I helped a friend who has done a LOT of good work in the recovery (rebuilding fishing boats, feeding orphans, helping donors find causes) by creating him a website and updating it occasionally. My wife (for whom English is not a first language) made several pages based on a template I made. Over the last year or so the site has grown and is getting more traffic, it served its pupose at the time but now it's getting bigger so we decided to move it from being an add-on to its own proper .org . We did the whole thing using Mozilla composer since neither of us know anything about html, it sort of worked but it is not really good enough.

Problem:
After the move to the new domain many links, pages, pictures etc are (naturally) broken and also it is past time to correct all the spelling and typos etc due to the increased traffic but my wife and I are both working full time 12-15 hrs/day, 6 days a week and simply don't have the time to get the site up to speed. Our small organisation is getting publicity on the BBC world service and we are getting hits (and complaints!) because of the broken links and bad spelling.

I'd like to ask for volunteers to help us: I'd send a page and its related pictures etc to a volunteer and they would send it back to me with the text and layout fixed and the pictures inserted as thumbnails which link to bigger pics etc etc which I could then publish/upload to the site.

So, the question is: Could I ask for this kind of help (I am guessing General is the correct forum ;-) ) or would that break the rules?

Thank you,
Mark

Technically no, this would be a sort of advertising and against our rules. But if you make a small mentioning of it in your signature, it works more in your favor as it would be tagged on every post you make, giving it more exposure.

Chefmark, you may want to even insert a link in your signature to make it easier for people to find said homepage.

After your first reply I changed my sig but I didn't put a direct link in it because I wasn't sure if it was allowed. After Matir's reply I put the link in. Thanks again

Which is a good thing.. asking such things is harmless, just doing it can cause an uproar..

Completely off subject, have you noticed that almost every post in this thread has a smily?
