Hello, everyone -
I'm going to say I'm new to Linux, though I've dabbled in various installations over the past 10 years or so. The problem is that everything I do at work is Windows-based, so I've never really devoted the time to learn any distro well enough to start really getting things done in it. I hope to change this, and now have Ubuntu 9.04 & 9.10 installed alongside W7. I do a lot of teaching in audio format for the blind. It's an odd niche program called "Handihams", that teaches ham radio to people with disabilities. We are at
handiham.org. I know that there are lots of accessibility features available in Linux, so that is reason enough to learn it in my line of work. However, there are also more and more ham radio applications that run in Linux.
At the moment I am just getting the Ubuntu installations a bit more functional, trying to make sure the basics are working. My plan is to try something new each day and see if I can become at least moderately competent in audio recording, FTP, and a few ham radio applications.
Thanks for reading!
