ok i'm a total newbie in linux but have learned the basics i think in the last few days and i was juss trying to get the wireless card DWL-G520 to work Mandrake Linux 10.0 and my kernel is 2.6.3-7mdk.... now i installed the madwifi drivers and everything went smooth... but when i do iwconfig i get

lo no wireless extensions
eth0 <lots of information bout i dunno... but basically this part is working>
set0 no wireless extensions

then i did the command
--> service network restart

so it did some stuff and everything was [ OK ]
but then it tried contacting the DHCP server and it said that [ FAILED ]
so i think that narrrows down the problem to the fact that my dhcp client not getting an ip or something i dunno....

i rebooted the comp to see if maybe things might take some changes but nothing... honestly truly greatly appreciate n e help ... i've been tryin to go online in linux for the last 3 days now

ok i fixed the problem after i got tired of waiting for a reply... hehe sorry have no patience
n e ways incase n e one ever has this problem... u need to INSTALL the packages dhcp client and dhcpxd i think or one of those... but yea thats was my problem since linux was newly installed and all the packages weren't there.... after u isntall those juss type --> service network restart <-- and you should be up and runnin
