Linksys WMP54GS Network Card in Mandrake 10.1 - What do I do?
THat was disappointing! Linux was listed under an operating system on the Linksys website, and it says "we do not support Linux"
Anyway, How do I get wireless networking set up with the Linksys WMP54GS Wireless Network card in Mandrake 10.1? I am not a networking guy, so I have no idea, and I am also pretty new to Linux.

Hello,
I have the same card and got it to work using ndiswrapper. Here is the main link :
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/
I hope this helps.

THanks, thats very useful, and I know that this question coming up is probably the most obvious question here, but I'm half asleep right now, so how do I get the files into Linux since I dont have internet there?

You can use a floppy or a burn a CD. Ndiswrapper itself is small enough to fit on a floppy and if you have the windows dirvers on a CD you can use these too. There you can copy them to your hard drive.

Instead of starting a new tread I figure I would add to this. I have wiped out windows and loaded Mandrake 10.1. I have a wireless notebook adapter - Linksys wpc54g. Do I need the windows drivers?

If you use ndiswrapper (which is the only way to get it working) you'll need the windows drivers. Though it's only about the .inf and .sys file. Ndiswrapper will install these itself. If you have them loose on a cd ndiswrapper can install them immediately if not you have extract the exe or cab file. There are directions on the ndiswrapper site.

Hey everyone, I know it's sad, but I still haven't gotten around to doing this, school bites lol. Anyway, I am going to hook my computer up to wired internet to download ndiswrapper off urpmi. I was just wondering whether or not this is safe, and second of all, how do I install the .inf and .sys into ndiswrapper? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

To install the inf files use: "ndiswrapper -i /path/to/inffile" without the quotes. You might also want to check out the ndiswrapper wiki cause all this info is in it. Downloading ndiswrapper that way should be fine but if it doesn't work I'd try the source way as well, you never know.

Ok, I have ndiswrapper installed, but the Linksys wmp54gs with speedbooster driver is .exe, that's the link the ndiswrapper wiki gave me. How do I extract those in Linux? THen I think I can do the rest by myself.
BTW, I found a ndiswrapper rpm on rpmfind.net.
