Can't connect to wireless network, can't set essid!

Hi!
I'm using ndiswrapper for my Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller. After I load the ndiswrapper module, I get this:
Code:
ndiswrapper version 1.13 loaded (preempt=no,smp=no)
ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,12/22/2004, 3.100.46.0) loaded
PCI: Found IRQ 4 for device 00:0b.0
ndiswrapper: using irq 4
wlan0: vendor: ''
wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:14:a4:58:86:e8 using driver bcmwl5, 14E4:4318:1468:0312.5.conf
wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK; AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK
So it looks like everything should work, but when I do:
iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys
and:
iwconfig wlan0
I get:
Code:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:off/any
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power:25 dBm
          RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
ESSID is not changed. We have a wireless router that uses WPA2PSK encryption. I have no idea how to give iwconfig the key, but I can't even change the ESSID, so it doesn't matter now. Can anyone please give help me? Thank you!

You're going to need to install wpa_supplicant, and that will also take care of the SSID (hopefully). If you're distro doesn't have a wpa_supplicant package, I've got compile and use instructions on my help site (link in my sig).

Thanks! I can turn off encryption off! There was another wireless network, that has default settings and it's ESSID is MSHOME, but I can't connect to it eather. Maybe it's thats why, because the router doesn't send out it's ESSID!?

Well, you should be able to change the SSID no matter what. Are you root when you try to set the SSID? Also, have a look in your system logs and see if iwconfig complains about anything when you try to set an SSID.

Having a router broadcast it's SSID can help, but usually it helps with association, not with setting the SSID.

Thanks! The problem was, if the AP with that name isn't in the radius, it doesn't change!
