Unable to add shared folder on VMware Player virtual machines

I installed vmware player on mx linux. I created two virtual machines - Windows 11 and Debian 11. I added shared folder in both machines by going to options > shared folders in each machine settings. But when i start the machines the shared folders are not mounted anywhere. Any idea what is the problem?

You might need to set up the guests to mount the shares.

As a workaround, you could use either NFS or Samba on the host and use it like a traditional file share.
