Yast screwed up my online update!

Using SuSe 9.1 pro. On dialup. I DID like yast. Installed all security patches. Big Samba one and huge Kernel patch. Then I decided to add software from CD's (add/remove software with Yast). Then did an online update and it says I need the same huge patches again! If Yast is broken then I guess I'm done with SuSe.
Anybody had this problem? Thanks!

Its possible you overwrote the existing patches/programs bits you had just installed. I don't think YAST is broken, I think you just made a mistake using the cd's, etc. No pun intended though, I'm just going by my instinct since you didn't give any full details.

When you run Online Update it only updates what you have installed.
When you add more packages it could be that they have updates which would not have been added when you updated.
They would update the next time you run Online Update.
I see this when I add new packages.

The same updates show up as when I installed SuSe. Ones I remember are security things like Midnight Commander, KDE base, Samba, Kernel, etc. But the list is the same. The only things I added via "add programs" were KDE games, evolution, and 1 or 2 more. I didn't add any programs that would warrant the same updates. I think I must have overwritten the database for "updated programs" or something, and it maybe thinks I need the updates. I'm running kernel 2.6.5-7.108. Is this the latest kernel online update for SuSe? How do I fix the updated database if this is what I screwed up?
Thanks!
