Xine error?

I have a bunch of wmv videos on my Linux box that I try and watch - someone recommended "XINE" so I downloaded this app and tried to open the file and get some sort of codec error...???

What can XINE open? and is there a simple way to install wmv codec to XINE?

You need to search for and install the xine-lib files

Check out this:

You might want to do it through a tarball (a.k.a. the hard way). It's not as tough as it sounds. If you get all the requirements, you'll get one heck of a player...

Cheers,

Thanks - However now my problem is that I used apt-get tool to install XINE and I have no idea where on my Linux box the actual program was installed in.

I need to know because I go to URL's that have multimedia to download and I get to options when i select the file - save or open and with what...I dont want to save every video I look at so I want to open using XINE but I must point to where XINE is and that I have no idea -

I hope that all made sence...
