Xgl with Fluxbox

Hi,
I just got Xgl working... kinda, I can run it in a window and the floppy windows work and stuff, it's pretty cool. I run Fluxbox as my window manager though, and I was wondering if there was a way to use compiz/Xgl's floppy windows and other cool stuff with Fluxbox. So far I've only ever seen people using it with KDE or Gnome, but I don't like those. I tried just starting Xgl with XDM and having it load up with Fluxbox, but the floppy windows and stuff don't work... I guess they're managed by compiz. Also it seems to get reallyyyy sluggish and jumpy when running Xgl on the full desktop (not when it's windows though), and I realized it was because the 3D accelleration (DRI I suppose) somehow turns off when I try to run it from XDM. Anybody got any ideas?

Marshall

Compiz and Beryl are the only window manager that support the AIGLX and Xgl stuff so no, you can't get any of that stuff in fluxbox.

Does anybody know how long it will be before these things are integrated into Fluxbox or if there will be some kinda add-on or plugin to make it work transparantly ontop of any other window manager?

It's up to the developers of a particular window manager to write in support for something like this. From my experience with the Fluxbox devs I wouldn't be expecting it any time soon if ever.

If you desperately want Fluxbox to support this then your best bet is probably to subscribe to the Xgl-dev mailing list and run down to your local bookstore and buy a beginners C++ book.
