didn't ask for your comment ! ... I'm looking for an answer ! ... of my Question ! .. only one Question ! ... only one answer ! ... and you don't have no answer at all ! ... even when you're running your 5-years-old laptop with Mint ! ... you don't know how to install some programs from outside the 'LINUX-Mint-Package' ! ...
and now you better shut up with your face ! ...
thinking about ' DrLove73 ' ! ... what does this mean ? ... a doctor of love ? ...
Both my first and last name start with an abbreviation of word love. And Dr. for computers. I got that nick from an IT colleague when I fixed his messed up billing software in no time. And if you check number of thanks I got (every 14th post), you will realize I am quite helpful person. For a persons that deserve my help.
There is supposedly a Linux version of Juno. We run it on Win7 and it occasionally dumps all our mail, so I was wondering if it works better on linux. It compresses all the messages into one file on exiting, and sometimes it fails to uncompress it, leaving a tangled mess of hundreds of megabytes, 99% of which is gibberish (actually, all your images, but you can't read them).

If Corel put out a free Linux version people would forget about Microsoft.
I tried installing an old WP version under Wine but could only get Quattro Pro to work; Presentations hangs, and WP just complains of a bad installation and bombs.
Hear, Hear!!! I made the same point in this very forum some time ago. One reply I received concerned a version of WordPerfect 8 for Linux, which used to be available, but though I bought a copy of the book which supposedly had a CD or DVD with it, I've never been able to find - or download - a copy.
I've been using WordPerfect since WordPerfect 4.2 - for years I ran WordPerfect 5.2 on an old DOS machine. A few years ago I upgraded to WordPerfect 12 - it was worth the money - and this year I upgraded again to WordPerfect X4. I've actually said to the Corel people that I'd be happy to pay the full price for the program - but no-one at Corel seems to be listening.
I'm not prejudiced against OpenOffice - I've actually found one thing that OpenOffice does somewhat better than WordPerfect as a word processor - and WordPerfect can make a mess of reading .odt files, even if saved in Micro$oft Word format - but when working on a document it can be extremely helpful to have the ability to split the screen and see exactly what is modifying the layout on the screen.
Please, please, Jeremy,do have a word with those nice people at Corel, and explain that it would be in their company's interest to have the WordPerfect Office running on Linux platforms!!

OO has a WP import filter but my wife uses the text box tool to basically do desktop publishing layout; those don't import into any other word processor. I like the calendar maker; a few seconds, there's your calendar. Can't get OO's calendar makers to work. The "Make It Fit" expert is worth its weight in gold! "Show codes" should be in every other program... However, the PDF export is buggy and I instead use a PDF printer driver. And the HTML export puts out a ponderous kludge of unnecessary code.
I think WP is going to end up in a niche market for lawyers. Of course it's died before and always rises up again. But they won't always be able to sell it for $300.

Maybe WP will end up in a niche market - but surely Corel can understand that it's a niche market with money!! A niche market that would be willing to pay good money for an operating system that doesn't hang when you are in the midst of something important; and would be perfectly willing to use a stable operating system that doesn't cost anything... other than the time it takes to install it. If they only have to pay out for one piece of software (WP), rather than Window$ 95, Window$ 98, Window$ XP, Window$ Vi$ta, and now Window$ 7....

If time meant lots of money to me, and I wanted a stable system that didn't collect viruses and need constant servicing, I'd choose a Mac. It's the next best thing to Linux, and the hardware costs more but so what. In a year or two, though, Linux might look less geeky and more mainstream, and be the best system regardless of cost. But first we need more apps (See? this is on topic).
