Hi rayfward - Thanks much for the info on Kturtle - I had no idea it existed - what a nice surprise.
Hi JaredR,
Why don't you check out http://www.squeak.org.
Squeak is a cross-platform version of smalltalk that uses a GUI and lends itself quite readily to programming.
It was used as part of the original OLPC effort before M$ Windows got involved. One of its original goals was providing a learning evironment for children.
I'd like to see a Dreamwaver port and also I would like to see a Webshots port for linux.
one other thing I would like (i don't know if this is the place to do it), is to have java applications that work on other browsers besides IE.
i have at work an application that only works on IE, even under Windows, that application doesn't run with Firefox.
i only have that experience, but i think there are other applications that behave like that.
I'm not a web developer so forgive my ignorance. I had to look up what you were asking about. I found this Http://www.Openaddict.Com/node/25 which looks to be a pretty complete guide to installing on linux.
I'd like to see netmeeting run better under Wine - I have had very middling success with it, and unfortunately my current client lives and dies by it.
Also, just pie in the sky, but it'd be nice if the Garage Band equivs (like jokosher) could read Garage Band files. I like jokosher better, but I have about 2 years worth of recordings to port.
lidex -- utorrent runs quite well under wine. You might have to install ies4linux to get it working all the way. I remember that utorrent will dissapear if you set it to hide on minimize (so don't do that!). On another note I switched from utorrent to transmission about 6 months ago. I haven't looked back!
adioactiveroach - itunes!?!?! really? try rhythmbox, it's WAY better.

What exactly is your problem with Webshots? I'm not a heavy user but it seems to work OK for me with FF, Opera, and Konqueror.
Java apps that don't work with browsers other than IE are either done that way deliberately or, more likely, badly written. You should write to the author or his/her company and tell them that their app isn't working properly with FF.
This thread is for letting vendors know that there is interest in porting one of their programs to Linux. Let us know what programs you would like to see ported and why. Details such as how much you would be willing to pay may be helpful as well. If there is enough interest for certain programs I will even contact the vendor myself.
