VNC Windows Scaling Issue

Hello all I have a question about VNC in FC4.

Let me try and explain what I'm doing

1.) I run vncviewer either by the terminal windows or by the launcher.

2.) It asks for the system I would like to connect to then asks for the password.

3.) The system I'm connecting to pops up.

4.) So I'm connected to the Remote system. (Windows Linux what ever) SUPER!

The problem is at this point since I'm running a 1024x768 display If I connect to a display of the same RES or larger it does not all fit in the window. In other words it's not "SCALED TO FIT" and I can't seem to figure out how to scale it.

I swear I could do this the last time I loaded FC3 (about a year ago). This time around I'm trying to get very serious about learning Linux and part of that I figure is trying to get all the apps I use in Windows running in Linux (there equivalent anyway). I use VNC extensively at work. This way I should be able to replace my Windows box with Linux. I think this will really force me to learn it.

Thanks All
Eric

I really think that resizing the desktop would work better than making it scaled. scaling it would make it really small.

You could go to fullscreen.

Ummm.... Ya well, it doesn't make it really small just small enough to fit on your desktop with out having to scroll.

That was the first thing I would do as well However since my Video Card will only do 1024x768 that's not really an option.

Anyway every single Windows Version there is of this lets you scale the desktop. I'm really finding it hard to believe that the Linux install of the same version will not.

But it's starting to look that way. This wouldn't be that big of a deal but I use VNC at work like crazy. We have it on all our workstations and it's a great way to remote into the users systems to work on them before I actually have to trudge out to there desk or drive to the stores. The damn scroll bars would absolutely suck if I had to work around those all the time.

It just blows me away that this function doesn't seem to exits in the Linux version.

Anyway if anybody happens to read this post and knows of a way to do this please let me know

Thanks
Eric

Ohhhhh..... I see what you mean my resizing the desktop. You don't mean cranking up the res. I tried that but heck that's more annoying than the scroll bars.

I was thinking that if your system has a small monitor you could set the guest to a small enough desktop size to fit.

For instance if you are using the client on your pocket pc then you would want to resize the desktop on the host.
