VNC viewer failing to open
Hi all,
Having just upgraded from Debian stable to testing, I now find that any vnc viewer app fails to launch. Running as user or su returns different error messages. I have tried with various vnc apps (vncviewer, svncviewer, xrealvncviewer...). I can get the pop up box asking for server and password, it looks like it connects but has trouble with the display.
As a standard user:
////
sal@debian:~$ vncviewer
VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
VNC authentication succeeded
Desktop name "sal's X desktop (lingate:1)"
Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3
VNC server default format:
8 bits per pixel.
True colour: max red 7 green 7 blue 3, shift red 0 green 3 blue 6
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
Value in failed request: 0x2c00018
Serial number of failed request: 222
Current serial number in output stream: 223
sal@debian:~$
/////
As su:
////
debian:/home/sal# vncviewer
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Error: Can't open display: :0.0
debian:/home/sal#
////
Also when any of the other machines (Windows and a RH client) tries to connect to a vncserver session run on this machine, the connection is successfull but all the text displayed in the vnc window on the clients is represented by square boxes?????
Any one with ideas??
Cheers
