VNC server/viewer

Humm - ok, I can connect to a normal Gnome remote desktop - tunneling through SSH as long as it is desktop 1.

However, if I try to connect to desktop 2 - instead of the Gnome, I get X windows. When I am starting a desktop 2 - how do I tell it to load Gnome like it does for desktop 1?

I had a the same problem when I started vncserver before editing the "/<home dir>/.vnc/xstartup" file. I had to kill all the vnc running processes (vncserver, xvnc, etc) and then restart vncserver to read the new config.
