Videodev and ioctl

Have videodev.h and videodev2.h installed on university server, but they seem to be missing parts like VIDIOC_G_PERF. Anyway, got the latest videodev.h off web and put it in the folder I am running program from and the program compiles, but doesn't run (Am I able to do this without installing properly? Thought if just an .h file, should work?).
In xterm (command window), just gives me segmentation fault, in DDD (debug program) it tells me
[tcsetpgrp failed in terminal_inferior: inappropriate ioctl for device].
Isn't the program- was working well last year.
Any ideas?
Would be greatly appreciated.
