Using Gstreamer-totem to play .mov files

I am trying to get totem-gstreamer to play a .mov file that I downloaded with little progress. I have installed all the livna plugins that I can see, but to no avail.

I suppose the question is really: Am I using the right media player, or is there a better one out there? If there is a better one, what is it, and how do I remove gstreamer?

Thanks in advance

I have a digital camera which is able to take movies in .mov format. I play this using xine. after observing you thread, i tried to play it using totem, but it could not play the .mov files, and there were no problem with xine. (Also please note that I am not sure whether i have gstreamer plugins installed or not.)

I'm running FC6 and gstreamer-totem play's .mov files fine for me. I followed the instructions here ( http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/download/fedora5.html ) to add the gstreamer repositories and then did the following with root privileges...
yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad
yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly

I would suppose the the codecs you need for .mov files mostly live in the gstreamer-plugins-ugly package but I'm definitely no expert on this stuff. But it does work fine for me...
