I have been using dvdrip, a frontend for transcode, to rip my dvd's and change them to xvid format. Some of the movies turn out really well, and others the sound pops and crackles. Any ideas on how to smooth out the sound quality?
What sound format are you using, and what are you using to playback the movies? XviD is an MPEG-4 video codec, and has nothing to do with your audio format.
I quess my reference to xvid made no sence. When i play it in mplayer it says it is encoded with mp3. I just noticed when i play it with kaboodle the picture is good and the sound is crackly, but with mplayer the picture and sound are good. Hmm.
Do you think I would have better luck encoding it with ac3, if that is even an option?
