sun grid(qmaster) installation

hi everyone!!!am a new user of the sun grid engine...i encounter these errors during installation..wen i try to add hosts during t sge_master installation(i mean in t later stages of installation)i get the followin error:
cannot resolve hostname:
cannot resolve hostname:
the other error wat i get is:
cannot communicate sge_master through the port 536/tcp..
pls help me...

Hi do you have a dns running that will resolve your ip addresses into hostnames. To me that seems to be the issue.

thank you immortal..but i am forming a grid in our college..of course we hav a dns...i got t same error at first wen i experimented with just 4 systems connected in a LAN...pls help..advance thanks...bye..hav u got any presentations or some documentation other than tat available in t sun website??

Hi

What version of sungrid are you using ?

Add entries for all your exec nodes in /etc/hosts files. This will resolve the hostname issue.

Also add appropriate entries for sge in /etc/services.
