You can find documentation regarding the Grid Engine on Sun's website. They have an admin guide and a reference guide available for download.

Hi stickman,
Thanks for the reply. But I still encountered some problems.I need to set up Sge on 2 different OS one is Solaris8 SPARC platform OS other is Linux 7.3 OS.Solaris OS as the SGE Master and execution Host and Linux OS as the Execution HOst.I have installed the Master and the Execution host on the Solaris OS using the command ./install_qmaster and ./install_execd and set the environment variable usin
. default/common/settings.sh.I was able to qmon but i couldn't submit jobs on the command prompt.Secondly,i couldnt install execution host on the Linux OS,i get a message during installation saying that couldnt find /default/common/configuration,i must installed the qmaster host first. The installation will only work if i used a shared directory(eg shared NFS) but i already set up a NFS on the Solaris and Linux OS and they were able to share the common directory which is /export/home/sge which i have created on both the OS.

What are the reason that may caused the problem??

Thanks in adavnce!

You might be intersted in an article published in the Linux Magazine October 2002 issue - GRID Computing, unfortunatelly I have no direct answer for you, but you might try http://www.linuxmagazine.com also they published a list of Development for building grids, among them
Globus Toolkit
Legion
Condor
And some more.

Good day to you. I am newbie to open solaris as well. I am trying to implement a hpc project on OPen Solaris. I got this error message when I try to execute ./install_qmaster :

error resolving local host: can't resolve host name (h_errno = TRY_AGAIN)
can't get hostname of this machine. Installation failed.

Any idea to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Regards,
Jacky
