SOUND in KDE3.3 on Slack 10.1


I am having trouble getting my sound to work inside KDE3.3 on my slackware 10.1 Desktop box works fine in the shell with mplayer but will not work inside X with KDE any ideas will be appreciated.

from a consol,run <alsamixer> and make sure the volumes are unmuted and adjusted.then run <alsactl> to save the volumes.
