smpppd suse 9.1

Hi:
Installed Suse Personal 9.1 tonight to play around a bit. Got the modem working (external US Robotics). I've used this modem for every distro I've tried. So, sure enough it dialed out but couldn't connect so I went to YAST to configure DNS server addresses. I deleted my old modem config and started over and entered the DNS's (pri & sec). Then when I go to save the configuration it gets to 66% and hangs at smpppd. Then if I restart, kinternet is not available and when I go to reconfigure modem it says it's already configured. Why does smpppd hang like this? This Suse is pretty cool so I'd like to connect! Thanks!

Nevermind.......Re-installed and still couldn't get dial-up to work properly. This is the only distro where I couldn't get dialup to work. Suse 9.0 pro no problem. I was just checking it out anyway.
I haven't planned to switch from Fedora, but I like to try out distros. Didn't get the smpppd error again.

I have the same problem with SuSe 9.1.
Yast recognizes my E-tech E56RVP external modem,
when saving the configuration it also gets to 66% and hangs.
I tried Kppp instead of Kinternet but couldn't get it to work either.
Now I use wvdial to make the connection and this works fine.
