i search a program similar to smart idea for linux

Hope these help - it seems that FreeMind is available for no cost and looks like mind-mapping software I have used.

with your experience, does freemind can compete with its equivalents commercial?

I haven't used Freemind, so I can only talk about the screenshots. And from those, the output seems identical.
