skype with video and wine

Hey everyone,

Has anyone gotten skype with video support to work in linux? I know the native skype for linux does not have the support... however it seems as though some may have gotten it to work with wine:

I can't quite tell though, because its listed as a known bug but says fixed...

If you have gotten it to work can you specify your versions of everything? I am going to try now but Gentoo + wine building = long waiting

I wouldn't hold my breath for an update of the Linux version of Skype, or even expect the windows version to be reliable with wine.

How about giving WengoPhone a try?
Its got more features and doesn't hog as much bandwidth as Skype either:
And its Free software in the real sense of the word

Hi guys,

Easuter: Do you know if you can chat/vid call/etc to Skype users with WengoPhone. If so it sounds perfect...

Unfortunately WengoPhone can't call Skype accounts.

Sadly, Skype's protocols are proprietary, so it I don't think the OpenWengo developers will devote much time reverse engineering them.
