Sendmail configuration (domain name+virtusertable)

Hi,

I'm just wondering, currently when I send an email, the email address other people see is user@host.domain.com . What I wanted is user@domain.com , without the host. Is this possible? Know a documentation which talks about this? I have no luck so far.

Another thing is with virtusertable. Say a shell account called 'user' has been created in shell. I've read a documentation said that I need to edit virtusertable file, which looks like this:

user.name@domain.com user@domain.com

What I wanted is so that my email address is changed to user.name@mydomain.com . But when I try to send email (say from outlook express), and use user.name@mydomain.com , an error popped up. Did I do it wrongly?

And if that works, if I send email through shell (using 'user' as the username) to others, will they see the email from user.name@domain.com or user@domain.com ?

Thanks.
