Screwed my FC3 installation REAL badly

I'm on FC3. Last night, I was deleting some programs via Synaptic Package manager.
I don't quite know what happened, but Synaptic crashed. I tried starting it again, and it didn't work. Then I wanted to listen to music, but neither XMMS, amaroK or Kaffeine whould work.
I was starting to wonder what I had done wrong. Firefox didn't work. IRSSI didn't work. Mozilla didn't work. Konqueror didn't work. NOTHING WORKED!
I whipped up a konsole (thankfully, that did) and tried the apps. It seems like some were missing something called "libglibc" and others were missing "libpng" and "libgtk-x11". I was dumb enough to reboot the computer, and then everything went down.
After every line in the "Starting something [ OK ]" came either a missing libglibc or libpng or libgtk-x11.
The only applications that seem to work are Lynx (that I'm writing this from) and apt-get. I've opened a new TTY because the main one keeps trying to start X, and it dosn't work.
I appreciate any help anyone can give, as this is a very urgent situation. I have also tried reinstalling FC3 (By "upgrading" the existing installation) but it only replaced a few programs (I wanna keep my home directory, as I got a lot of valuable files there.)
I probably look really stupid now, but that's understandable.
Please help as soon as possible.
Thanks.

I tried using Apt to do it. It didn't work. They were all already installed.
I tried rpm -e on them, and it gave me a huge list of programs the libs depended on.
I whipped out my old windoze HDD, and I'm writing this from XP, so I'll try DLing Knoppix
