Angry FC3 or Alsa Mixer screwed my Microphone

I sure hope someone can help me with this problem. I like to use Skype and since I have been in FC3 I have not been able to use my mic!

Here is an interesting but very odd situation I just discovered.
FIRST; When I run AMIXER as root in the terminal I see that the mic is listed as 0 from mic to mic select, but when I run ALSAMIXER mic select is mic2.

I assume that means that FC3 and/or ALSA are looking for my number 2 (3 if it is using 0 for 1) microphone and there is absolutely only ONE mic. I never installed more than one, never set anything other than the system sound and the alsamixer, and definitely do not see any way I can or did tell it to look for anything other than the only mic I have.

Does anyone understand my problem and what I need to do??

I had all sorts of sound problems that were caused by aRts when using KDE. In FC3 you can turn it off by going into control centre- Sounds... - Sound system and uncheck the Enable th sound system box. hope that helps
