I missformulated my last question, which was about capturing user actions and events, and was shown linux keyloggers, though these may well help, what i was looking for was something that records screenshots, or even better AVIs.
We have Camtasia, which can do all of this in windows, but, alas the experiment is in Linux, so we were considering using VNC to beam it to a windows machine, but that doesn't seem to want to work (KDE doesn't load, plus we can't get the server to be connected to by the Windows Viewer).
Anyway, the question should be:
Is there any software for linux which records a series of screenshots, at a minimum 3 every second i would estimate.....
Maybe i can' just script that ...
Anyway if anyone knows of software, this info would be really grand.
I found that shortly after i last posted, and then had to get some software down to check it out ...
seems the 650 MHz chip in my laptop can't quite handle it, which may cause problems since i really don't want to use the 2800 for work ... might have to get the research machine and improve it to Linux, rather than XP...
Take a look at the Xvidcap link in the feed back on the same web page. That is an open-source app for real-time recording of a screen or window. You can record audio as you demonstrate the program.
