Removing LILO

Well I am a newbe and this is my question. I have Windows and Linux running. Well my brother got it to work. I am now planning to delete Linux and I am wandering about LILO. Is LILO inside Linux and when I format Linux will it still be on my pc. I mean will I still get that blue screen that let me chose what OS to run when I start my computer or will Windows start up right away by it self. I would like to delete LILO completely so it is not on my computer will this happen when I format the drive on witch my Linux is

thx

To remove LILO you need to boot from a Windows disk. If it is an XP disk, the command is fixmbr, if a pre Win2K/XP disk, the command is fdisk /mbr.

Check my bookmarks (see my sig), there is a link to the MS support pages with instructions on removing Linux.

I think the best action would be to format everything reinstall windows and install Slackware and not install LILO. Now will I be give the option not to install LILO when I install Slackware

You will be given the option, but without LILO you won't be able to boot into Linux (Windows being the first OS on the disk will boot).

If you don't want LILO on your hard disk, choose to install it to floppy disk - that way, you only need use it when you want to use Slack.

Why don't you want LILO on your hd? it makes switching very simple.

My LILO was time to 6 seconds and I usually get a drink when I reboot or see what is on TV and most of the time I have to reboot my computer 2 or more times very irritating because I miss the 6 second timer
