How do I remove startup programs in KDE? It starts openoffice quickstart etc in the system tray.

look in ~/.kde/Autostart (delete or just move it out of the Autostart section)...

and

in the control center in the "Services" section, uncheck the entry if it is in here...

checked that, it's empty. Not in Service manager either.

have you tried right-clicking on the openoffice quickstart icon in the taskbar to see if it has the option to quit and/or the option to not start when kde is started???

go to kontrol center -> kde components -> session manager. Make sure that 'restore manually saved session' is checked (the middle option). Then close the quickstarter and bring the desktop in the state you want it to be at startup. Then choose 'save session' in k-menu (near the bottom).
The desktop should now always look like that at startup.

I have been though all these as they are obvious and I also use Google.

The problem is that I have to do that for every single person. that's annoying. Miss the msconfig in Windows so much.
