How to remove unwanted startup programs on mandrake 10.0

Hi.

I have mandrake 10.0 and want to prevent some unwanted programs like httpd, crond, nfsd, etc., from starting up on boot. Can someone help with this? Im not sure what scripts to edit to prevent these from starting.

As root user ( su - ) run the command: chkconfig --list
That will show the services and if they are set to start in the different runlevels.
For example:

 chkconfig --list cups
cups            0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off

If you don't want a service to start, change it like this example:
chkconfig --level 2345 cups off

You also could have ran mcc, and there is a config check off list on there to disable bootup things in Mandrivia...
