Question refresh rate playing games

I have downloaded UT2003demo, but how can I set the default refresh rate higher than 60hz? Im running 1600x1200x75hz in X, but when the game runs in it's own res (i'm running at 1024x768) it has the low refresh. I would like to set the max refresh rate for each res

Thanks
