Realplayer 10 stand alone problem

I installed Realplayer 10 the other day, it's very nice compared to the last one...

But.

For some strange reason, now it's installed, the plugin works great within firefox, the standalone player works fine too when I open it manually... But when I click on an unimbedded realplayer link in Firefox, it opens a "What do you want to do..." window, with the "open with... realplay" option selected, but the ok button is greyed out!

It won't let me launch the file with the correct player >

It won't even let me save it to disk... OK no work!

I can copy the link, open realplayer and paste it into the location and that works fine, but it's an extra step I shouldn't have to take.

Hi,

Just thought I would add that I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I will also add however that I did not have this problem when I first installed Real Player - I have since downloaded the latest version for linux from the RealPlayer website (RealPlayer 10.0.1.436 (gold) ) - prior to that I had the RealPlayer 10.x (can't remember exactly what it was).

Anyway, deleting the files for the old player off my system and installing the new player I experience the problem you describe.

Anyone got any ideas 'cos it's bugging the hell out of me!

Hi only me again,

I have posted this question on another forum and received the following response:

"mozilla/firefox pick up the realplayer patch from ~/.mailcap, which gets written by the setup assistant. Do you have a ~/.mailcap? Does it point ra/rv mime types at /usr/local/RealPlayer/realplay ?"

I responded with the following reply:

"Yes I have a .mailcap file in my home directory.

There are a lot of entries in here associated with real player but I can't see any relating to ra or rv mime types.

Here is the contents of the .mailcap file (entries relating to RealPlayer only):
