A problem installing Realplayer

I tried to install Realplayer today as thats the only thing that will work with my favourite radio station. I followed http://ubuntuguide.org/ and successfully installed loads of new programs but installing realplayer, apt tells me this:

gcarlile@blackone:~$ sudo apt-get install realplayer
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Suggested packages:
netscape
The following NEW packages will be installed:
realplayer
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 6065kB of archives.
After unpacking 14.8MB of additional disk space will be used.

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Have I done something wrong and is there a different way to get Realplayer onto my system?

OK I fixed that problem and it installed OK but now I click the icon and

nothing happens! What other players will play real player streams?

i got RP working in a stand alone install of FF 1.0.6 this way

i downloaded & installed FF to a folder on my home partition
i then installed RP via synaptic (it wouldn't work at this stage)

i then downloaded RP from there site untar to a folder then remove the "mozilla" folder from the RP folder
which contains the two plugins that are needed (i then deleted the RP folder)

in the FF folder i placed a copy of the plugins from the "mozilla" folder
nphelix.xpt to the components folder within the FF folder
nphelix.so to plugins folder within the FF folder

RP now works with everything using FF 1.0.6 as a standalone install on my home partition using RP which was installed via synaptic ...
