Hi All:

Installed the rpm package for Real player 10 from the Real website. I'm running under Mandriva LE 2005 and installed it via the desktop GUI which seemed to work perfectly and told me that packages were installed successfully. The files are installed ok but the app doesn't show up in any of my program listings on the menu bar and clicking directly on the desktop icon located in /usr/share/applications won't open the player either. The Realplayer button on the taskbar appears and the hourglass turns but it gives up after several seconds.

I initially tried installing the RealGold .bin file from the terminal but it first told me it wasn't executable. I executed the chmod a+x Realplayer... to make it executable but when I attempted the install (as root) it told me the file didn't exist. (????)

Can anyone out there tell me what I'm doing wrong?

do a search for it using the following commands

find / -xdev -name realplayer or

find / -xdev -name Realplayer

it may be located at either

/usr/local/bin
/usr/bin

or even under your /home/ directory
