qmail (LWQ) installation error *spot the n00b*

Arghh .. well you would expect a Windows user trying to set up a qmail sever on an nslu2 to fall on his backside at some point.

ok - this is the issue - I'm unpacking my bits - following the instructions:

cd /usr/local/src
gunzip netqmail-1.05.tar.gz
tar xpf netqmail-1.05.tar
cd netqmail-1.05
./ # watch for errors here

I run the ./ command and I get the following errors:

You should see 7 lines of text below. If you see anything
else, then something might be wrong.
[1] Extracting qmail-1.03...
[2] Patching qmail-1.03 into netqmail-1.05. Look for errors below:
patch: No such file or directory
wc: No such file or directory

Any help would be appreciated.

ahhh ... well even us windows boyz can work at least some of this out. It seems that 'patch' was an app I had failed to install. And I guess that wc is also - although I can't find this for my little system.

edit - what the hell is wc when it's at home?
