problems with gnome-panel and firestarter

Hi all,

Still trying to get to grips with linux and I'd really appreciate some help on this.

On boot both gnome-panel and firestarter fail to load (with firestarter giving a (fail) on the screen before login. Both can be started manually but that's a real pain and also when I alt+f2 gnome-panel any maximised windows will have their title bars/menus cropped off at the top of the screen. I'm not sure where I'd find the info that tells me what has gone wrong.

I'm on Ubuntu 11.04.

Thanks!

Thanks rajeevrnair, unfortunately that didn't fix it. I can still get onto the gnome-desktop I just have to manually load both each time.

If you still can't find a way out try ubuntuforums.org

reply with whatever happened and a more detailed error message you've got to let people know exactly what is happening if they are to help you.
