gnome-panel crashes. Which file is responsible for the position of the panel?

Hi all,

I accidently moved the main panel to the leftside of the screen. Now I can login, but the panel crashes immediately, leaving me with no other option then to restart X.

I can login as root (Where the panel is still just bottom-placed) so i figured, if i edit the file responsible for the panel position, I can login again. The crash seems to be a known bug in gnome (according to bugzilla), but there is no fix yet.

What file do I edit to place the panel to the bottom again, for the specific (normal) user ?

Thanks for your help....

try this..

there is a file in your home folder at..

/home/username/.gnome/panel.d/default/panel

edit the file and change this..

edge=3

to this..

edge=2

then run this command..

killall panel

if the panel is not running run this..

panel
