problems with gnome-panel and firestarter
Hi all,
Still trying to get to grips with linux and I'd really appreciate some help on this. On boot both gnome-panel and firestarter fail to load (with firestarter giving a (fail) on the screen before login. Both can be started manually but that's a real pain and also when I alt+f2 gnome-panel any maximised windows will have their title bars/menus cropped off at the top of the screen. I'm not sure where I'd find the info that tells me what has gone wrong. I'm on Ubuntu 11.04. Thanks! |
try installing fluxbox or lxde get into it and then remove gnome-panel and nautilus and then reinstall... could be a problem with nautilus as well.Create another user account and see if issue is resolved. All the best

Thanks rajeevrnair, unfortunately that didn't fix it. I can still get onto the gnome-desktop I just have to manually load both each time.
