hm... no, actually i meant how do you get pico to display line numbers... kinda like typing

You got me.. I just took a gander at some of the documentation, and I see nothing mentioning this feature (I guess cursor position works?).

Here is an exerpt from the man page:

I think that it is saying it works great for simple text editing, however it's not nearly as powerful as the almighty vi or vim

Well, If you still want to use vi(m), just type "vim filename" and if it doesn't exist, and empty file called "filename" will be created in your current directory ready to be edited
