Question no inittab file?

Installed new XFree86 shiznit, then on the next bootup I got this....

INIT: Version 2.78 booting
INIT: No inittab file found

Enter runlevel:

The ones that I've tried it says there are no things to run in that runlevel :P

Thanks, Atroxic

Is the file /etc/inittab still present? Init uses this file to know what to do for each runlevel on bootup. If it isn't present you should find a way to restore it. Maybe extract it from one of the install packages.

Have you tried booting from a diskette? If you are able to boot from it, then search for the file to see if it still exist in your HD. If you can't find it, then search for it in the CD you used to install.
