no fonts in kde?

Everytime I run startx and the xinitrc file runs startkde, everything comes up like it is supposed to but there are no words. If I were to click the k, the menu will come up but lines would replace where the text should be. I added /usr/kde/3.1/fonts to my fonts part of XF86Config but that didn't help. Can someone help me?

I have the same question. If you already know how to deal this problem, please e-mail me. Thanks.

That happened to me in XFree86 included in the Red Hat 6.0 distribution. I just downloaded a new version of X (together with all ISO's fonts) at www.x.org and updated my old version, and simply work! I hope this can be useful. Please don't ask me about details because i'm very new in the Linux world. Thanks!

NOTE: My english is very bad too!
