KDE ****ed my fonts up !!!! :-(

I normally use xfce and I loaded up kde to change some of the setting in kcontrol and when I logged in I noticed that all the fonts were hella big. Since I don't really use KDE, I didn't care that much, but when I went to log out, and back into xfce, all my fonts and everything else was big and all jaggid. What really doesn't make any sense, is that if I log in as root, all the fonts are as they should, but not for my normal user. I am running Gentoo 2005.1 and have looked in my home dir of .files and can't find anything useful!! Please help!!

Hey there, I had the same problem as well.
I still new at Linux but I found the problem. Did you by any chance fooled around with the video card settings? For you see (atleast in my case... I am using SuSE Desktop) when configuring your computer you have to becareful setting up the X and Y parameters of your screen size. I actually measured my screen size and punched it in the config. Once I restarted, FONTS WERE HUGE!! Then, after reinstalling Linux, I found out the problem. =P I set my X and Y values to 500 and 250 respectively and everything is A-OK.

I hope this helps out.

Eh, I actually didn't do anything other than login to KDE for the first time and I believe what happened was that KDE tried to set the apporpiate DPI for my resolution (1680x1050), but since it was a widescreen, the DPI got all messed up.

Instead of solving the problem, I eliminated it. It was only effecting my main non-root user, so I backed up my home dir and deleted that user and made a new one and I don't have that problem to deal with!
